The first step to weight loss is setting yourself up for success.  First take the
quiz  ("Do You Believe You Can?") and check what your answers tell you.   
Y
our belief that you can't lose weight can be what's holding you back!
The next section asks you to evaluate how ready you are to make changes in
habits that will lead you to a healthy lifestyle.  
The third step may take a few days to work on ...  Find out what you can do
to keep yourself motivated to eat healthy, starting in week 1!

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT DIETS?
Who can you believe about low-carb, no-carb, cleansing diets or fat-burning
foods?  Your registered dietitian is your best resource, of course!  I'm going to
direct you to some information so you will find the truth about a dozen of the
more popular myths.
Rate of Weight Loss:  Another big question is how fast should you be losing
weight?  On a 'diet' the safe recommendations are for one to two pounds a
week.  However if your goal is to adjust to a healthier way of eating that you
can continue for a very long time, consider that the weight will come off more
slowly.  Don't like this idea?  Remember the trade off is huge: you will never
again find yourself in this situation of having to 'go back on a diet'.  The latest
recommendation for safe and lasting weight loss from medical and nutritional
experts is explained in week 2!

B
y now you are making small changes and developing habits that will stay with
you as you become that healthy person you have envisioned being time and
time again!  You might be able to tell by now that eating foods low in calories
and high in nutrients is not making you suffer.
A high percentage of people who are overweight eat very little during the day,
and consume a large meal in the evening.  It's hard to believe that eating more
often will help you with your efforts to lose weight.  It sounds
counterproductive.  But I see people prove it to themselves time and again.  
Adding breakfast if you do not eat it now can help you lose weight.  One
drawback people experience when they first start to include breakfast in their
morning routine is a new onset of mid- to late-morning hunger.  Find out why,
and what to do about it in week 3!

You are not 'on' a diet so there is no diet for you to fall off!  Make the best decisions
you can each time you eat, and know that it will keep getting easier the more you
repeat the healthy pattern.  There will be no such thing as "I blew my diet"
anymore.
